7-14 August is National Vocations Awareness Week. Let us pray that more people will consider the vocation to the priesthood and religious life.
Let us also pray for our young people that the Holy Spirit will guide them as they discern which path to take in life.

Next weekend, 13 & 14 August, we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Assumption is normally celebrated on August 15th and is a holy day of obligation in New Zealand. But for this year, it has been moved to 14th August.

Today’s second reading says: “Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen” [Hebrew 11:1]. May we be steadfast in our faith and faithfully witness to the Son of Man who comes.

I’d like to mention again the RCIA 2016-17 will be commencing on 7 September (Wednesday). This is a program for non-Catholic adults who may want to join the Catholic Church. If you know of anyone who is interested, please advise them to contact the office or myself.

Our condolences to the family of Kay Frances Hart. A funeral service will be held for Kay on Monday 8 August at 11am in Morrinsville.
